Blog Rot and the case of the faster CPU

July 1, 2009

Alright, I think it’s been at least a year since my last post. I never intended to let this blog die, and I actually quite enjoyed writing my thoughts. So what happened?

NAB so far

April 14, 2008

Gotta say, the latest camera offerings shown are disappointing me. I have my fingers crossed for Scarlett, the ‘mini-RED’, but I’m beginning to anticipate (dread) the horrible ‘barrel-cam’ form factor.

Two cameras so far, after the jump Read the rest of this entry »

Apologies concerning the web distro of Episode 1 2008

April 7, 2008

The Tasmanian Premier League Football Show Episode 1 2008 is coming, but thanks to my wireless connection suddenly becoming questionable the upload has failed several times now. About to run a long cable, which should fix things up.

Sorry again, when its up, you’ll find it here: www.youtube.com/tasfootball

Long time between posts, lots on

March 12, 2008

This is a short and sweet one (again). I am still working on the second part of my guide, but its a little more complicated than part 1 and I have to put it together in my free time, which isn’t happening a whole bunch lately.

The Tasmanian Premier League Football Show season starts again shortly, and I’ll be making a separate YouTube account exclusively for them to get my account cleaned up a bit. I’ll be sure to mark down the address when its made.

I uploaded another of my films today, one that has been a long time coming. Just a short, made years ago when I was in college. I am pretty proud of it, but I know I can do better. So why aren’t I doing better? Good question.

Despressingly, it looks compressed to doom. Looks like a rerender and a new upload may be in order.

Damnit.

Tas Premier League Football Show now mostly online

February 7, 2008

Episodes 1 – 9 are now featured on my YouTube account. I am making a playlist with every episode in order, and will complete that tomorrow.

I am currently rendering episodes 10 – 15, and they will be uploaded tomorrow. Look out for 15, it had to be cut into 5 parts for consistency and its sheer length, I believe it went for almost a full half hour.

If you’re interested, check ‘em out!!

Not Part 2 of my GY-HDxxx write-up, but a good shoot-out

February 5, 2008

Here you will find a great shoot-out between four of the (still current although somewhat updated) popular HD cameras on the market. They test between the Panasonic HVX 200, the Canon XL H1, the JVC GY-HD100, and the Sony HVR-Z1.
Please note that this test is from January 2007 and several of the cameras included have since been modified.

Vision Mixers and Low Budget AV = FAIL

January 20, 2008

I’ve been on the lookout for a long time for a vision mixer. For a while there, I thought I’d pick up a second hand Panasonic MX 12 cheap, but when I thought about it realistically, what practical purpose did a 2 channel vision mixer really offer?. Clearly a 4 channel was the minimum I should be looking at or else I was going to see my investment cascade into redundancy faster than analogue video when DVD debuted.
